Create in the Wild

June 2019

REGISTRATION OPEN

Create in the Wild is a month of guidance, inspiration, and Wild Creative teaching for creatives wishing to step out of the four walls of their studio and embrace making in harmony with nature. It’s a course for artists, makers, designers, and crafters who are looking to integrate Earth-centered practices into their studio and are ready to engage in some critical thinking, self-reflection, and creative adventure!

During the 4 weeks of this course I will be giving students a basic introduction into some of the core elements of Wild Creative Practice and will give personal feedback and support to participants.

Each week will offer a mix of guided activities, topical readings, journal prompts, audios, and links to further writing and creative work to inspire and educate. This is a course that will encourage you to find your own way of Creating in the Wild and will appeal to head, heart, and body.

Please note that this is NOT purely a making course. Half of the classes are dedicated to conversation around themes at the intersection of art and ecology. In week 1 we consider our role as humans on this planet and why eco practice is good for us as makers and good for the Earth. In week 2 I show you how to create your own inks, dyes, paints, and tints from plant material. In week 3 I take you through the making of a piece of my art and demonstrate how I work in harmony with nature. In week 3 we discuss eco-feminism, the role of the artist in eco-activism, and I share some of the exciting innovations I’m seeing at the intersection of art and environmentalism.

All the work will be done online. Each module can be worked either in pace with the course or in your own time. However, if you decide to self-pace, I will respond to comments only up until July 14th.

I have been teaching for many years and deliver high quality courses that encourage personal discovery. If for any reason I don’t deliver the full content, I will issue a full refund and invite you to register for free in the next session - let’s be honest, sometimes disasters in life happen and throw us off our path. Similarly, if you encounter such a curve ball, I will do my best to find a compromise that works for us both.
